You know that age old "never work with kids or animals"? Who was the unfeeling, uncreative control freak who came up with that saying? Celebrants work with both, often, and you know what? I dont believe it can ever be a negative experience. Dogs, the more common four legged bridal party addition, fit in perfectly and Ive personally had no disasters. Horses can be a little less predictable but still an important family member and worthy of inclusion. Everyone loves animals, they are experts at being natural and helping people relax.
My absolute favourite heart melting moments at Marriage Ceremonies however, is when the Groom (who has lets face it, already had an emotion charged morning, may not have had much sleep and is generally in a well hidden state of mild panic) gets his first glimpse of the small people leading his Bride to stand beside him.
The moment the two adorable babes pictured above stumbled down the beach track and came into view of the man standing on my left, he went to pieces. He went to pieces in the most perfect way and it makes me a little teary remembering this beautiful moment when the depth of the day brought an otherwise cool character, to tears of joy and pride. Of course the Bride alone is usually capable of having this effect on most feeling Grooms but having children or fur-babies that you care about involved in your Wedding Ceremony is a joyous and beautiful element and should never be considered a risk. In fact, it is always perfect!
All you need is Love xx
